St.Christopher’s Hostel, Barcelona

Over the years I have heard so many good things about St Christopher’s Inn hostels but had never stayed in one until recently when I stayed an extra couple of nights in Barcelona and it was the cheapest centrally located option.

If you have ever visited Barcelona you’ll know the prices fluctuate a lot for hostels and hotels. Over the years the prices have been slowly increasing. I’ve seen prices as high as 90 euros (plus) for a bed in a mixed dorm room, which is a touch too much but somehow people still pay it.

Often hostel prices can be ridiculously priced depending on the season but I managed to get a good deal while I was staying.

The nightly rate was approximately £18 but don’t forget when you’re staying in Barcelona there is a City tax to pay which keeps rising, approximately 5 euros

The location is so central and you can be in Placa de Catalunya within 5 minutes, it’s super close to Universitat area and Passeig de Gracia, although it is very central, the street it is on seems to be unusually quiet for central Barcelona.

It is next door to Belushi’s bar, which is spacious and modern, you’ll get a discount of 25% if you’re staying at the hostel, a free drink if you book directly through the website and can use the space to work, drink, eat or hang out.

If you choose to have breakfast at the hostel it’ll be located in the dining room of Belushi’s.

Breakfast inside or outside?

If you prefer to have breakfast outside, there is a small terrace in front of the hostel where you can have a snack or drink whilst people watching.

Inside the hostel is clean, spacious and the staff are very helpful.

Once you are allocated your room and floor, you can go and explore to see what artwork is waiting for you.

Each floor has a different artwork reflecting Barcelona, unfortunately I wasn’t able to explore every floor, as your keycard doesn’t allow you to go beyond your floor but the artwork I saw was excellent.

It’s so brilliant to see local artwork and quirky features, it makes the experience more unique, interesting and incredibly memorable. Fingers crossed next time I stay, I’ll be able to check out more of the floors and their unique artwork.

Are you someone who pays attention to the details or don’t care?

Atmosphere, connection and curtains

Downstairs you’ll find a comfy dining room and chill out space, which is also where the kitchen and laundry room are. The times I hung out in here I ended up chatting to lots of people but there are also a lot of people staring at their phones.

Hostels are a great place to meet people and definitely the time to look up, engage in conversation and have a chat. Put the phone down, put your head up!

You can store your luggage here too if needed.

The rooms are fairly spacious, clean and each bed has a curtain, such a win if a hostel has a curtain.

Do you book a hostel depending on whether it has a curtain or not?

For me, this place was a winner.

One thing I loved, as not a typical twenty something year old traveller it was great to see a mixed age range staying in this hostel, so refreshing!

Have you ever stayed here? or at another St Christopher’s Inn’s? I’d love to explore more, where should I go next I wonder?
