Generator, Barcelona

Generator is located near the top of Passeig de Gracia close to the Gracia neighbourhood, a great location if you’re looking for a calm amongst the chaos of what Barcelona can often be. Its a short walk from the centre and far enough to be away from all the hustle and bustle with the ability to explore other areas easily.

This is a place I’ve stayed several times and each time have made new friends and discovered new areas of the City.

The hostel is close to lots of eateries, a huge Aldi if you need snacks, who doesn’t need snacks? and lots of cool and quirky bakeries, shops and independent businesses, as well as, being close to the metro and train links.

Interior delights

The hostel itself has a spacious entrace with two brilliant feature swings which I recommend you take full advantage of, they are so comfy and relaxing.

There are big windows looking out onto the street with large seated windowsills, making it easy to people watch and enjoy the views of the busy streets.

The design inside is quirky, cool and slightly retro.

There is a breakfast and bar area next to reception, along with a large seating area on the floor above and a gorgeous roof terrace with incredible views of the area. A great place to relax, have drinks or eat whilst taking in the sights.

There is an array of rooms from dorms to private, male, female and mixed.

During my stays at this hostel I have stayed in some spacious rooms to the more cosy ones but generally they have always been ample for what I have needed which is basically, somewhere to sleep and shower.

Of course, with the slightly higher number rooms the showers in the rooms aren’t always enough but generally there are shower rooms on the floors.

It is a hostel where I have noticed there is a mix of families, students and older travellers and the inter generational mix works well.
